 Ian Ferguson is one of New Zealand's most successful athletes.
Over the years, he has won four Olympic gold medals, one Olympic silver medal and five World Championship medals for kayaking. He has raced singles, doubles and fours. He was most famously known for his doubles partnership with Paul MacDonald.
In 1996 Ferguson was awarded the ‘Olympian of the Century’ award by New Zealand's Olympic Association, after competing in five Olympic Games.
Ferguson has continued his kayaking career by forming and coaching the New Zealand Kayak Squad which includes Ben Fouhy and his son Steven Ferguson. |
